What You Don’t Want To See On A Home Tour

Sometimes while I’m out showing homes to my clients we get to run into some pretty interesting stuff. I usually don’t document it out of courtesy to the homeowner, but some things just need to be shared in hopes that sellers out there take note…

I’ll start out with this:


If you want to scare buyers away, leave this clown in the closet so when they open it up they are terrified right out the door. Pro Tip: Sellers, try not to scare your potential buyers to death.

Then there’s this:


Pro Tip #2: Sellers, box up the “too real for comfort” dolls. I know you love them, but the buyers probably are not familiar with the hobby. The object of the home tour is to make the buyers feel comfortable with their surroundings, not give them the heebie jeebies.

It may seem like us Realtors have it made walking through homes and collecting the big checks, but it isn’t as easy as it seems. Especially when you aren’t quite sure what you may see around the corner!
